New meeting location
The senate district’s monthly meeting will now be held at Oak-Land Junior High, in the media room. This new meeting place was selected because of its central location in the senate district. We meet the third Thursday every month at 7 p.m. Please check our Web site to confirm the meeting date and location, as sometimes we do need to make changes.
At this meeting, the senate district’s central committee meets to discuss our current and future activities. The central committee is made up of district-wide officers as well as precinct chairs. These members are able to vote at our meetings, but all are welcome to attend.
We hope to see you there!

A big thanks for a huge caucus night
Greetings:
I would like to thank everyone for turning out for our precinct caucus and presidential preference vote on Tuesday night. As you know by now, the turnout throughout the State of Minnesota was well beyond what any of us imagined, and set a new state record. In 2004, we had about 700 people attend our SD56 caucus, and we planned for double that this year by adding a satellite parking lot and shuttle and making 1,400 packets. However, we actually had 3,042 people on Tuesday night! We know this greatly inconvenienced most everyone, with parking problems and long lines, and we thank you so much for hanging in there. We’re so very grateful to our caucus convenors and secretaries, who did their very best under difficult circumstances to help keep the democratic process alive and well! Please know that we’re definitely assessing changes we can make in the future to better accommodate record-setting crowds in the future.
Of course, this is not the end of the hard work necessary to change the course of America—it is just the beginning. We need your “time, talents and treasures” to help with the next big task of reelecting our State Representatives Julie Bunn and Marsha Swails, and our new U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative and President. Please watch for future information on our website and in your email inbox about how you can continue to stay involved in our local DFL activities.
I would also like to thank everyone who helped on Tuesday night and, in particular, a big thank you to Vivian Votova, Joe Ward, and Michelle Witte for all their help with recruiting and training volunteers and managing our hectic logistics on Tuesday evening, and also to Atheen Johnson stepping in to help on caucus night and enter a huge amount of data.
Sincerely,
David Beaudet
Senate District 56 Chair
